Carol E. Rogers works with Meals on Wheels which might be an interesting person to contact if you wanted to get involved with that. However for simple financial support I would talk to community service director Randall L. Figgins or secretary Frank Williams. Hope this helps.
i just read your Aug 2nd message you left me. the rotary should have a website for the santa barbara area. the main purpose of their organization is service. basically, they would want to give you money if you could convince them that you would use it for the purposes of serving the community. i hosted a rotary meeting in temecula a few years ago where i set up a presentation asking for money by showing what kinds of service my organization was already doing. I suggest that you work on getting you section involved...doing tangible things for the community. document such things...ie: if you work with an organization such as bread of life, take pictures or interview people. when i get back in december, i would be more than happy to help you organize a presentation for rotary. im not certain on when they usually give money. to the best of my knowledge, they give money in the spring to be used the following year...our case 2009-2010. realistically, the rotary source for money might only be used after we have completed a successful year of organization and work. unfortunately, companies usually only want to support something that has been proven to work. i, however, will keep digging to see if there is a faster way to get financial help from them. i will try to get you the number or email of someone in charge to help you figure this out when i am away. i hope your RA training is going well. I'll talk to you soon. peace.
Do you think it would be possible to use the Armington Praise/Prayer night as a launch pad for off-campus praise/prayer events? At say, SBCC or UCSB? Not sure what that may look like. But transportation would be a possible cost. This might be something Vespers might want to look into. But we can definitely support them in organization and crew members.
Hey Austin! I'm doing well, still in SB for mayterm. I've been meaning to get back to you. My plan is to respond more in detail in a few weeks when I am done with school. I'm very excited about what's going on and I would love to talk more about it.
I read some of the stuff you posted and I find it funny that I'm reading a book right now kind of about the same ideas...It's amazing how God works and prepares us....I would love to share some of my experiences and realizations that have come from living in San Francisco...I think it would be good insight...I don't know exactly how at the moment, but I think it would be something I could offer as we all stumble through this together...
